Each award winner received an award sculpture, commissioned by artist Michael Tonder, a $1,000 grant to give to the nonprofit of their choice, and a professional video commemorating their accomplishments.

the Initiative Awards have recognized the work and dedication of individuals, businesses and communities within the foundation's 14-county service area. Held every 18 months, foundation staff select finalists in each category based on their leadership, innovation, community impact and involvement in the foundation's programs.
The event calls to attention everyday individuals while inspiring others to search themselves for their own outstanding community initiative.
