The foundation continues to build and manage its endowed funds to provide sustainable support for its charitable mission and purpose into perpetuity. Professional investment oversight is provided by Shale Lapping, CFA, CIMA and President of IPEX, Inc. A Finance Committee of at least seven members including the Secretary/Treasurer of the Initiative Foundation’s Board of Trustees, current and past Board members, or other experts in the field is charged with monitoring investment and fund development activity.

In order to address changing community needs and protect the endowment into perpetuity, the long-term objective of the investment program is to preserve the fund’s purchasing power by producing a total return that at least equals the foundation’s spending policy plus the rate of inflation.
