The Initiative Foundation is dedicated to strengthening central Minnesota communities. Through our unique partnership with The McKnight Foundation, most gifts are matched dollar-for-dollar, immediately doubling the power of your gift. There are many giving options to help you make a meaningful difference while building a stronger foundation today and for future generations.
Endowment Gifts
Every foundation is built upon an “endowment,” a permanent sum of invested dollars that returns annual earnings to support foundation programs, grants and operations. When you give to our endowment, you provide the greatest flexibility to respond to future needs and opportunities that no one can predict today. Because only the endowment earnings are spent, your gift will still be working for generations to come.
Program Gifts
The Initiative Foundation operates several unique programs that empower central Minnesota people to strengthen their communities. If you have participated in our programs or believe strongly in their goals and results, we encourage you to consider supporting one or more of the following:
Fund Gifts
The Initiative Foundation permanently hosts and manages the assets of several charitable funds, including community, donor-advised, scholarship and memorial funds. We also have funds that support for family farms, children, youth and families programs as well as for community planning and environmental preservation efforts. You may choose to support any of these funds through a gift to the foundation, or start your own.
Planned Gifts
The cash gifts described above may not be the most beneficial if you wish to make a future gift, offset tax burdens, earn a lifetime income, or leave a legacy for you, your family or your business. The Initiative Foundation can help you earn significant financial benefits through wills/bequests, insurance policies, gifts of appreciated assets, or more strategic vehicles.
