In your own words, define a great leader?
A great leader knows when to listen, when to speak and when to lead.

What compelled you to be an adviser to the Emerging Leaders program?
I love learning about different leadership styles and I am always looking for ways to improve my own leadership skills.  I enjoy seeing others come into their own leadership style and I knew the Initiative Foundation would deliver top-notch development trainings.

In your own words, define a great leader?
A leader takes people where they want to go. A great leader takes people where they don't necessarily want to go, but ought to be.

What compelled you to be an adviser to the Emerging Leaders program?
I wanted to contribute my unique skills and knowledge to complement the leadership program and to be a mentor and coach to some of the emerging leaders.

In your own words, define a great leader?
Great leadership is about bringing life to the old adage that none of us are as smart as all of us. Whether it's at the level of an office, a community, or a country, we all benefit from environments that give good ideas an opportunity to emerge and inspire progress, whether those ideas come from the CEO or from the janitor. We each have a unique vantage point on the challenges and opportunities that surround us, and our communities are strengthened when we find ways to include more of those diverse perspectives in our broader conversations about our shared paths forward.

What compelled you to be an adviser to the Emerging Leaders program?
I have a great regard for the inspiring work that the Initiative Foundation has done in and around Isanti County, and so I was thrilled to have an opportunity to be a part of a project under their leadership. The next chapters in the story of Central Minnesota are going to be written by somebody. Efforts like the Emerging Leaders Program give us a better shot of ensuring that those authors are the people who live and work here, and who are passionate about helping our communities fulfill their potential.
